Who We Are

Who We Are

Medhen Orphan Relief Effort (M.O.R.E.) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization and the primary sponsor of the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Orphaned and Vulnerable Youth (OVY) Programs administered by the Medhen Social Center in one of the most impoverished areas in the world, just outside center city Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Under the vision and stewardship of Sister Senkenesh, and with M.O.R.E. underwriting the costs, these programs deliver a vast array of essential health, nutritional, and educational related services to those most in need.

Our mission is to...
  • Respond to the growing orphaned children crisis in the community that the programs serve by providing children with a loving home
  • Ensure that the orphaned and vulnerable children have access to education, healthcare, medicine, food, nutritional supplements,  clothing, shelter, and emotional and social/psycho-spiritual support as part of the holistic approach to their well-being
  • Provide each child with access to vocational training or advanced education
  • Give caretakers training and financial support for their role in helping to raise the children, and provide the means for maintaining a sustained livelihood
  • Feed the children’s hearts and spirits as well as their bodies through social activities
   ~ Giving hope…..to M.O.R.E. children ~

“After all our motto is ‘to do small things with great love’ (Mother Theresa) and it works.”
Sr. Senkenesh

“Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience, the passion, to reach for the stars to change the world.”
Harriet Tubman

"During our visits to Medhen, I never cease to be amazed by the genuine smiles and looks of hope in the eyes of the children. They have not given up and neither can we in our support for a better future for them.”
